I work at a local ice cream store the customer's order was $5.05 a common price ordering a single item.

This particular customer says he doesn't have coins with him today and reaches into our tip jar proceeds to takes a nickel out and pay with our tip for his ice cream.

Most people in this situation pay with a larger bill or credit card no questions asked.

His actions rubbed me the wrong way and felt wrong although it wasn't a significant amount just the idea of someone doing this. He is not a regular if that makes a difference.

CustomerFair2292 . "that was really mean to take money out of my tip jar." call them out. point blank.
  • 13
Dependent_Price... you should have scraped a bit of the ice cream off the top & put it back in the tub
  • 14
shedevil71 I'd ask if he's in the habit of stealing and I wouldn't be quiet about it either. Doesn't matter if it's a Nickle or a 50 dollar bill.
  • 15
Not5id Remind him that that's the tip jar, not a "take a penny, leave a penny" dish.
  • 16
glemits Move it, to where he can't reach it, every time. Grab it.
